A while ago I started reading Robert Greene\u2019s \u201c48 Laws of Power\u201d and have to say \u2026 mucho disturbio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is the world really this corrupt? Are people really this horrible? Am I really that na\u00efve?
It appears the answer to all of those questions is a resounding \u201cYes!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sigh. Well, the banality of evil is<\/em> a thing, so \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDeception is a developed art of civilization\u201d \u2026 \u201ccongenial yet cunning, democratic yet devious \u2026\u201d \/ Really?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Apparently, we (the collective) are all trapped in the courtesan\u2019s role of seeking power while concealing our efforts to acquire it, and none of us can legitimately opt out of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Otherwise consider yourself prey, and easily preyed upon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sigh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, as the wise man once said, Can\u2019t beat \u2018em?\u00a0 Join \u2018em<\/em> \u2026 so, better to learn the rules than get played by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n See ergo, to wit \u2014 those low creatures … the masters of mankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sigh. Ick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But, however, nevertheless \u2026 one immediately valuable lesson of the 48 is also one of the most important \u2013 the key to playing the inevitable game is mastering one\u2019s emotions. {James 1:19<\/em>}<\/p>\n\n\n\n That, I can get with.\u00a0 Far too many are slaves to reaction, rolling in the stink of feelings<\/em> \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now I readily admit it feels good to blow up all over a situation, just freak out and flail for a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But indulging in the petty, while delicious, often has repercussions that last far longer than the temporary release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Temper tantrums lead to timeouts. Or time in.
