Methinks me might have to … reassess a point of view.
Despite all appearance to the contrary, still an adult, and can adapt an opinion based on new information.
See: exploding pagers.
Now, not that there was any real consideration given to the fact that certain folks might still carry the antiquated things, but the fact that they are blowing up tends to give one pause.
No question: Israel has the right to exist. But this Israel? Might not be biblical, after all. {Ezekial 38:4}
Talmudic, perhaps, but biblical? Or, perhaps more correctly … Biblical?
So starting to not get those vibes.
Methinks the idea is brilliant … sudden percussive hemicorporectomy, at a minimum.
But … heard a rumor that Israel’s government is luring Palestinians outside of their homes with the sounds of crying children then blowing them up and away.
Hmmm … bit extreme, that. And for folks just chillin’ in the rubble of their lives.
But.
Back in 2006, the last “free and fair” “election” in Palestine, the people voted Hamas into power. Admittedly, they were living under a type of Israeli-imposed apartheid and legitimate options were limited, so there’s that. In any event, the folks there put the folks there and here we all are.
Is Israel committing genocide? Well, sure. Of course she is.
Can she do that? Well, sure. With the help of Babylon, methinks absolutely.
And because one of the stated goals of the fundamentalists in the region is her absolute destruction, so there’s that.
Complicated much? Methinks … well, sure.
Still should have given the Jews Germany after WWII, but crossed the water under that bridge some 80 years ago … shoulda/woulda/coulda … didn’t/won’t/can’t.
So now what?
Guy by the name of L. Frank Baum (author of the Wizard of Oz) served as the editor of a 1890’s-era publication, and observed in January 1891 that “[h]aving wronged [indigenous Ameriginals] for centuries” in order to protect the horsemen “settling” the plains might as well commit “one more wrong and wipe [them] from the face of the earth.”
Suppose a little genocidal means can always justify the conquering end.
Methinks “having wronged” the Palestinian people, that wrong will nonetheless continue.
The world will lament the tragedy after they are gone, then set about writing the palatable history.
Such is the way.
