China … China … China … sigh.
Someone once observed that waking the Dragon would be major socio-, geopolitical mistake.
Methinks sage wisdom.
Saw an article/post recently about how tech in China has managed to build an artificial womb, with tubes and hoses for a human fetus to gestate inside a robot. Supposedly, will cost around $14K US, as opposed to an actual human surrogate rent-a-womb, which is over $100K.
Hmmm.
There is this FANTASTIC sci-fi space battle series written by David Webb … Honor Harrington, the Salamander … absolutely that buh-buh-buh-bees’ knees … excellent storytelling with lots of techie-ref … think Tom Clancy’s Red October but in space, with better plot and greater depth, all around more exciting.
Anyhoo, Ms. Harrington accidentally gets preggers, and at this point in human history women are just as battle-scarred as men because reproduction is handled by machines.
BUT
It took some massive trial and error, with the production of totally psychopathic cybernetic offspring, because the human womb is so much more than just a vessel for life, but there is heartbeat and the bloodrush and voices of momma/daddy/people that the in utero experience, and failure to duplicate the sensory drove the early children mad. Crazy babies, indeed.
Kinda wonder if that’s what’s coming, what with robo-wombs.
Frankenstein’s monster just got an upgrade.
AND and robo-wombs will still need human genetic material to … grow? hatch? germinate? A human baby, but whatwith computer implants connecting the brain directly to the innernets, must say not encouraged re the future.
Not looking good folks. Not looking good at’tahl.
Mewonders if this is what got the pre-Flood world destroyed … the 200 took wives of the fair daughters of men and created abominations.
Book of Enoch – predictably banned from the 66 but found in Ethiopian Coptic – gives a great history of all the damage done that GOD decided to clean up, save the 8.
Dinosaurs and minotaurs and giants, indeed. {Ecclesiastes 1:9} Does appear that mankind is just repeating the same mistakes … took howevermany millennia, but here we go again.
The debt of hubris will forever remain unpaid. But hey … at least women get to just donate their eggs and live their lives, let robots do the hard parts.
Isn’t this better?
