Been a bit of a while. Time to circle back … The wise Mr. Edelman enumerates several categories of expenses to track spending (spending PLAN, remember? … spending PLAN …) [see p.303]

Just a few examples. Notably absent, however, are housing costs. And while upon first glance may seem helpful but gets a bit down into the gritty weeds of things … therefore, must digress. But will give his examples anyhoo … [p.304]

And as explained, the categories themselves are not as important as the consistency in using them. Is eating out characterized as “Food” or “Entertainment”? Is NetFlix under the category of “Movies” or “Utilities” as part of an internet plan? Whatever works for the individual should guide the effort, as long as the effort is consistent, intentional, and deliberate.
Otherwise … keep on keeping on. Debt doesn’t mind.
The reality is that there are only five things that human persons need to spend those 100 coins on, and those five things remain the same regardless if billionaire or vehicular tenant, whereas the amount spent is merely a question of degree/extent/ability.
Now, no harm in divvying up spending categories as specific as desired, but simpletons like things simple, stress less.
Here – made it easy:
Food
Clothing
Shelter
Healthcare
Purpose
That’s it. That’s all. Plan/track spending of the 100 coins for those five categories, and the war is essentially won … BUT, but … must attend to each individual battle (i.e., spending decision) to guarantee success. And, admittedly, “Purpose” allows the most wiggle room and opportunity to overspend, so must be careful and particularly attentive to the coin expenditures in that category
Gird those loins.
