Boss Cost

Methinks perhaps we are entering the realm of diminishing retur— nah, forget that.

Just fix the darn thing.  {Luke 6:42} Handle one’s own business, as it t’were.

See, Truk now has an oil leak, fairly significant, but oil levels remain … level.  Likely a rear main seal.  Gah.

Good thing, tho’ ‘cuz there is sort of a relationship (customer/biz but still) with a local place, cleaned up the area of the leak for free before dropping a dime (see, I’m hip) on what is likely to be a $2K repair.

Gah.

Not worried about it, not really, because one of the folks at the place said a sibling just purchased a new truck for work … (drumroll, please) … total cost roughly $120K.  For a vehicle.  A truck, yes, but still.

Methinks mentioned somewheres in these parts that regardless of the cost of the repair, Truk is still owned outright, only costs are related to repair, maintenance, insurance, and tags.  And none of that is going to total a new truck payment.

Let’s see … math here is definitely money.

$120,000 ÷ 60 payments = $2,000/month, and that’s without interest, fees, taxes, etc.

That is more than the mortgage Half pays each month.  My goodness.

SO LOOKS LIKE WE’LL BE GETTING TRUK FIXED.  Est. $2K for a one-time fix, and $1300 for another time fix, and $1000 for new tires etc., etc., ad infinitum (heh) is still less than the price of a small house in Alaska (I checked), so methinks me will maintain.

Cost to be the boss = increasing, but that’s life.

Cost of outright ownership = priceless.  Let’s do that.
