In the Paint

Don’t read many of the classics … should, but shoulda/coulda/woulda, didn’t/won’t/can’t …
all know that drill.

Anyhoo, dunno why but decided to crack open Oscar Wilde’s magnum opus / opus arrogantia and see what there was to see.

The homoeroticism is so very slaaaay qeeen, not very subtle was Mr. Wilde.
But those who know him know that.

And not sure how Mr. Gray did not see that/his end coming … I mean, really?

Not a great book, not really, lots of esoteric, arcane references, maybe more decipherable during the age it was written but the endnotes are a must.

Did I like it?  Not really … the main character is such a prancing, preening twerp, not sympathetic or at all relatable. Would I recommend it?  Not really, maybe the movie is better … might check it out … probably should read anyway, just to check #34 off the list / but how is Blood Meridian / Art of Racing in the Rain / and ‘Salem’s Lot not on there?  Politics in politics, basketball and literature.  Sheesh.

Should do an update/remake … guy who played Pennywise would be perfect as Dorian Gray.

3/10 but go read it anyway, just to say ya’did.
