Beware the Pig Farmer

One of the most (methinks, opinion only) underrated yet heavily enjoyable Guy Ritchie films is Snatch, with Brad Pitt as the one-hit wonder and Jason Statham as an actual actor.  The big baddie in the movie is this gangster that discusses pig farms as optimal for disposal of … organic problems.  Nicely put, like the way this guy thinks.  Anyhoo …

Canada proved this out.

An unpleasant little creature, described as quiet and weird with a stench, Robert “Willie” Pickton owned a pig farm in Vancouver, where he used to lure his victims – typically prostitutes, surprise surprise – but something unexpected was the fact that many people knew he killed women on his farm, someone actually saw a body strung up in a barn getting dressed like a deer, and everybody said nothing at all.  Rumor has it, little Willie was lonely, and he invited all manner of addicts, vagrants and other social detritus to come stay at his farm.

The most striking aspect of his killing field – 49 confessed, 27 confirmed – is the indifference shown to the torment, suffering and loss of other humans.  We really are a unique species, determining the value of a human life based on its socio-economic status.

The caste system of India has several layers of hierarchy … the Brahmins at the top, then the Kshatriyas, followed by the Vaishyas, and the Shudras as the lowest acceptable class.  On the outside, not even allowed to look in, are the Untouchables, or the Daljits.

In western societies, the Daljits are the homeless, the addicts, the street sex workers … and it is always open season on them.  Heard a horrifying story of homeless men being/getting … eunuched as they slept on the street.  Some horrid little creatures would wrap wire or string around the sack and then pull.  Not sure how the homeless guys slept through someone fondling their nuts, but hey … never been homeless (THANK YOU JESUS!!!!) so cannot say with any certainty what is normal, or what one could expect from the experience.

So there’s that.

Anyhoo … the real irony of the Pig Farmer of Vancouver?  He was caught not because one of his victims escaped (á la Tracy Edwards … oh the nightmares he still must have) but because an anonymous tip to the cops revealed Pickton had illegal firearms on his premises, which got the ball rolling.

In February 2005, Pickton was arrested on firearm charges, and then later re-arrested on murder counts after DNA/body parts (?!?!?!?) were discovered on the farm, ultimately convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 25-to-life.

So there’s that.

In May 2024, Pickton was beaten into a coma and later died from his injuries.

The lesson in all this?

We are all our brother’s keeper.  {Genesis 4:9

Whether victims or perpetrator, if we – as common humans – kept a better eye on each other, paid a little closer attention, lived more like a village, we could likely prevent such suffering … both in those who feel isolated and those who suffer due to the acts of those selfsame isolated men (typically, usually) … hurt people hurt people.

But enough of the kum-bye-yaah … truth is we generally suck as a species, and show neither the signs of any improvement, nor any desire/inclination to do so.

The real struggle is finding a cabal of like-minded people … not the opps, as theKid is wont to say … and build community on that basis.  Rumor has it that women in China are building women-only communities with farms, industry, medical support, etc.

Kinda like the 4B movement, but sustainable.

To a point.  ‘Cuz a single generation of women refusing to engage/interact with men?
That’s a wrap, folks.

Either that, or breeding farms.

Project 2026, anyone?  Anyone?  Oh, yeah.  All of America.

Hunger Games for … Snatch.
