Brilliant Shrike

Still gnawing away at Mr. Ellison’s anthology, and oh my goodness is he good.

“Mefisto in Onyx” is easily one of the best shortish stories methinks meeyes have ever glazed.

Truly good.  And it’s obvious no wonder why not more popular.
Brown eyes outcrafting blue is not a popular trope.  Not here.  Not ever.

Language is a bit spicy, all sorts of epithets and vulgarities, linguistic malignings, if one will … even comes with a disclaimer.

Mr. Ellison even did, however, march with that Reverend good doctor King, bit vocal on his views.

Beauty of it?  Not gratuitous, not even in the slightest.  Each word has a purpose and a use, even a shrike, as it t’were.

Good read, that.  Highly, highly recommend.

But prepare those modern eyes, no need to be offlicted
(yes I know but should be … irregardless – heh.)
