Back Into the Salt Mines

Methinks there would be greater … not respect, exactly, but more of a … tolerant resignation (no, not that kind but there’s been a lot of that too!) … a reluctant acquiescence … a begrudging forbearance, if one will … to returning to in-person office activities if employers were just honest.

Recently received notice that the party was over, that COVID has been vanquished, and it’s safe/required to return to the cubicles.

Oh, goody.

The insulting part?  All the management faux excitement — We’re just so thrilled to have you back in the officePotlucksBaby showers!  Retirement parties!  — when the reality is so much simpler … “The lack of actual, physical oversight exercised on staff chafes balls, so we’re going to need to you come back now.”

Thank you.  Honesty is key.

I’m/we’re/me’em not sure who the PR department is who’s handling this whole “Back to the Desk” celebration, but that/those person(s) should be removed from society.  Like, immediately.

Totally tone deaf.  One company even put up placards – “Bet your dog’s missing you.”

Kiss my [please insert hirsute and funky body part of choice].

The folks who want to come back should have the option, and those that don’t should as well.  Work’s been getting done for the better part of two years, and there has never been a sane, rational, logical justification offered for requiring those who did their jobs from home need to now do those exact same jobs in the office.

Like I said; honesty is key.

Cut the bullballs and just level.  Management wants oversight and access.  Easy-peasy.

Now please, don’t misunderstand.  While I don’t love my job (see:  this blog) I’m grateful to have one, and the paycheck that comes along with it.  {Galatians 6:7} Said paycheck, with increased aptitude re financial acumen, a-hem, allows this little worker bee-let to deal with debt and move towards better.

It’s just the grasping stupidity of management that irks.

But then again, the idiots are in charge because they wanted the job.
