“Pretty Maggie MoneyEyes” … Hey Harlan!

There is a young woman from South Carolina who blinded herself by wrenching her eyes from her head during a methfit … thought she needed to do that to, dunno, save / somebody / and apparently it took seven other adults to hold her down in the ER.

Just say no, indeed.

To her credit she said she’d rather be blind than addicted to drugs buuuuut … what else can she say, really?

My Elder used to work with/amongst the dwellers of iron boxes and one resident, suffering from severe mental decay, rubbed poop into his eyes for weeks until the resulting infection allowed him to slip those orbs right out of the sockets with little to no resistance.  The Elder said tried for weeks to get the guy some help but kept getting diverted/dismissed, told not that bad, told help would come/be given, eventually.  Pretty sure the crazy blind guy’s family sued.

Not sure what eyesight is worth, but remember Stevie Wonder?  Once asked if he would exchange his fame for the ability to see and there were no lies told.  “Yes.”

Been wearing glasses since roughly 10 years old … eyesight now is such that driving, screen-time and facial recognition are all pretty much laughable sans corrective lenses.  The wonder of sight.

Speaking of eyes, currently grinding through an anthology of short stories by Harlan Ellison and mahdude … he is good.  Highly recommended.

Dead now, and an atheist, so don’t believe he’s particularly enjoying the afterlife at present but maybe.

Anyhoo, wrote a story about a hooker with awesome genetics and magnetic eyes that got trapped in a slot machine and tricked a loser into swapping places.

Highly good.

JBTW, Mr. Ellison is known for his short stories … Steve the King may have pioneered the novella, myguy Harlan was a true raconteur of diminutive format storytelling.

Go.  Read.  That.
